Our Brief

As part of our role as Market Development Consultants for the ACO in Japan, we secured and delivered Richard Tognetti’s first performance as Guest Conductor of the Kioi Hall Chamber Orchestra (KCO). As part of a broader strategy to secure an ongoing presence for the ACO in Japan, we ensured this engagement was successful in positioning Richard Tognetti and showcasing his prodigious musical talent to Japanese colleagues and audiences. We made sure Richard’s week of rehearsals and two final performances went smoothly, and solidified the ACO's relationship with Kioi Hall, one of Japan’s most prestigious classical music halls.

The Project

Richard Tognetti’s first engagement as guest conductor and lead violin with the Kioi Hall Chamber Orchestra (KCO) in July 2023 was well worth the long Covid-induced wait. The program for the 135th KCO Subscription Concert featured Kilar’s “Orawa”, Haydn’s “London” symphony, Takemitsu’s “Nostalghia” and Mozart’s “Jupiter” symphony. The KCO played standing, “ACO-style”, and enjoyed the energy and craftsman-like precision of Richard’s conducting. Fellow ACO violinist Aiko Goto was also invited to join the performances, reuniting her with friends and colleagues from Toho Gakuen Music high school and university, and The Julliard School (New York). Together they created a beautiful KCO – ACO alliance that will hopefully grow into the future.
