After two popular tours in 2017 and 2018, we are delighted to announce that AGNSW have again invited Kathryn Hunyor to curate and lead a 10-day cultural tour in May 2020 of Japan focusing on Japanese art and architecture through time, as part of the Art Gallery of NSW Society’s World Art Tours.

This tour will explore the timelessness of Japanese design, exploring traditional and contemporary art forms that permeate everyday life.

Starting in the cultural metropolis of Tokyo, this itinerary explores the city’s remarkable artistic culture, including new architectural masterpieces, art museums, design spaces and commercial urban complexes. The tour will then continue to the extraordinary Setouchi ‘art islands’ of Naoshima, Teshima and Inujima, where Japan’s artistic culture brims with a new confidence, creating some of the most exciting and authentic contemporary Japanese art experiences.
